The Chelsea captain and former
England captain John Terry has received a fine of 220,000 pounds and a four game ban after being found guilty of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers
defender Anton Ferdinand.
A statement from the Football
Association said that Terry had been charged with "using abusive and/or
insulting words and/or behaviour towards Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand
and which included a reference to colour and/or race", contrary to FA
rules.
A few months ago, Luis Suarez was banned for eight matches and fined £40,000 after being found guilty of misconduct,
regarding "using insulting words towards" Patrice Evra of Manchester
United.
English football (and other countries as well) continues to troubled by the scourge of racism. And that was
what a Parliamentary reported a few weeks ago.
